About Beccie D’Cunha

I founded Courage Lab to build happier, healthier, high performing workplaces. I wanted to bring together my mediation and consultancy expertise with my leadership experience. I have been mediating and facilitating for 20 years and, in my various senior leadership roles, it is these skills that have enabled me to build resilient, high-performing and loyal teams, even in times of change, crisis and uncertainty. I have put into practice what I now teach others to do - having courageous conversations with those I managed or reported to, and with customers and suppliers. And I have experienced first hand the power of these conversations to strengthen relationships and organisations, in good times and bad.

Why courage?
The key thread running through my career has been courage. Campaigning (my early career roles) requires the courage to speak (often uncomfortable) truth to power. Mediation requires the courage to move towards the things most people run away from, to sit with strong emotion, listen deeply and empathise with those you might disagree with profoundly. Leading teams and organisations requires the courage to listen non-defensively to feedback, to speak up and challenge others, to face (and show) your own vulnerability and be open and transparent about challenges or crises. And consultancy work requires the courage to name the elephant in the room when clients are pretending it doesn’t exist.

I love working with leaders and teams who aspire to be courageous in their relationships, who want to grow and develop the courage and skills needed to have good conversations. And I love bringing hope and resolution to team situations that others say are hopeless.
